SERVICE BULLETIN & PRECAUTIONARY DRINKING WATER ADVISORY: JANUARY 24, 2017 BUFFALO POUND POTABLE WATER SUPPLY SYSTEM
January 18, 2017
Attention: Buffalo Pound Potable Water Supply System Customers
SaskWater has been advised that the Buffalo Pound Water Treatment Plant will be performing the next step in their capital upgrade program which will require a plant shut down. The details regarding the customers affected and the duration of the planned upgrade are as follows:
SaskWater customers on the Buffalo Pound West and North potable systems will experience an estimated 16 hour service disruption between 7:00am and 11:00pm on Tuesday, January 24th while the plant upgrades are being performed. SaskWater East potable customers may see a slight reduction in pressure during this period.
Customers on the North and West pipelines should also note that due to the resulting system depressurization the Saskatchewan Water Security Agency (WSA) will be issuing a Precautionary Drinking Water Advisory (PDWA) on these systems effective 7:00am Tuesday morning. Once the associated sampling protocol has been completed ensuring the quality of the water was not adversely affected due to the depressurization, SaskWater will notify its affected customers that the PDWA has been rescinded at that time.
Please note that we have been advised by the WSA that the Villages of Tuxford, Marquis, Bethune, and Disley will be exempt from this PDWA due to their offline storage and re-chlorination capabilities, but the WSA may issue individual PDWAs on these distribution systems as required.
Should the scheduled outage timelines change due to weather conditions or supply restrictions, SaskWater will notify its customers at that time. Any questions regarding this service interruption and associated PDWA should be directed to:
