Service Interruption Bulletin: Buffalo Pound Potable Water Supply, March 8, 2017

    March 06, 2017

Attention:       Buffalo Pound Potable Water Supply System Customers

SaskWater has been advised that the Buffalo Pound Water Treatment Plant will be performing the next step in their capital upgrade program which will require a plant shut down. The details regarding the customers affected and the duration of the planned upgrade are as follows:

SaskWater customers on the Buffalo Pound West and North potable systems will experience an estimated service disruption between 7:00am and 11:00pm on Wednesday, March 8th while the plant upgrades are being performed.  SaskWater East potable customers may see a slight reduction in pressure during this period.

Customers on the North and West pipelines should also note that there has been no evidence in the past of “positive” bacteriological samples as a result of these 12-16 hour shut downs and chlorine residuals have been maintained.  As a result, the Saskatchewan Water Security Agency (WSA) is not expected to issue a Precautionary Drinking Water Advisory (PDWA) as a result of this work at this time. However, once the systems are re-pressurized, extra sampling will be performed to confirm that the water quality was not adversely affected as a result of the work at the plant.

Should any potential issues be subsequently identified, the Water Security Agency may choose to issue a PDWA at that time and SaskWater will notify their customers accordingly.

Should the scheduled outage timelines change for any reason, SaskWater will notify its customers.
